Waves Plugins on 4K Displays

  • Waves V14 on 4K Displays

    Mac:

    Waves plugins (latest version) will display properly as 2015 Mac Pro computers (or newer) are required.

    Windows:

    Waves V14 plugins fully support HiDPI in the following host applications:

    • Cubase 12
    • Nuendo 12
    • Studio One 6
    • REAPER
    • Bitwig Studio
    • FL Studio - Full support when using one screen. When plugins are detached and moved between screens, graphic issues may occur.

    In the following host applications, HiDPI is not "true", rather Auto-Scaling is controlled by the host application:

    • Ableton Live
    • CakeWalk By BandLab
    • Maschine
    • Komplete Kontrol
    • Pyramix
    • Samplitude
    • Sequoia

    The following host applications will not auto-scale plugins:

    • Pro Tools - Recommended setting "Override HiDPi scaling by system" in the application properties > Compatibility.
    • Audition - Plugins will load at 100% regardless of system settings (small GUI)
    • Premiere - Plugins will load at 100% regardless of system settings (small GUI)
    • Reason - Plugins will load at 100% regardless of system settings (small GUI)
  • Waves V13 on 4K Displays

    Mac:

    Waves plugins (latest version) will display properly as 2015 Mac Pro computers (or newer) are required.

    Windows:

    Waves V13 plugins fully support HiDPI in the following host applications:

    • Cubase 11
    • Nuendo 11
    • WaveLab 10
    • Studio One 5
    • REAPER
    • Bitwig Studio
    • FL Studio - Full support when using one screen. When plugins are detached and moved between screens, graphic issues may occur.

    In the following host applications, HiDPI is not "true", rather Auto-Scaling is controlled by the host application:

    • CakeWalk By BandLab
    • Reason

  • Waves V12 (and earlier) on 4K Displays

    Displaying Waves plugins in UHD (4K) resolution display monitors is not yet officially supported in all host applications.

    Mac:

    Waves plugins (latest versions) will display properly on all host applications with these exceptions:

    • Final Cut Pro 10.4.9 using Retina displays.
    • 2012 Mac Pro computers using 4K, large or multiple screens

    Windows:

    • In the following host applications, the plugin GUI will show up in its normal dimensions.
      • Ableton Live – default behavior
      • Studio One 4:
        • Verify HiDPI is enabled/checked in Options > General > HiDPI
        • Access the plugin settings menu in the plug-in editor tab > check the Enable System DPI Scaling option (requires Windows 10 version 1803 or higher).
      • Studio One 5:
        • Access the plugin settings menu in the plug-in editor tab > check the Enable System DPI Scaling option (requires Windows 10 version 1803 or higher).
      • Reaper
        • Access Reaper Preferences > Advanced UI/System tweaks and under HDPI mode (Windows 7+) select ‘Multimonitor aware (recommended)’
        • Access the plugin settings by clicking the '+' icon, under Compatibility settings > check 'HiDPI compatibility mode when floating window’.
    • In the following host applications (latest versions), *disable ‘HiDPI’ *(converts the host UI to the highest resolution) in order to display the plugin GUI in its normal dimensions:
      • Pro Tools and Media Composer
      • Cubase, Nuendo and WaveLab
      • FL Studio
      • Premier and Audition
    • Host applications with no 4K support
      • Sequoia
      • Samplitude
      • Cakewalk by BandLab
