Important Notes:

  • SoundGrid is a ‘private’ network: in order to have a clean network stream, the SoundGrid network should not be used to run any non-SoundGrid applications. Using non-SoundGrid protocols on the same network that carries SoundGrid audio might result in audio drops, application freezes, and other unexpected results.
  • LV1 V11 requires updating all SoundGrid hardware to v11-compatible firmware. LV1 V11 is not compatible with v10 or v9 SoundGrid devices. See instructions on how to switch a SoundGrid system between driver versions.

  • See eMotion LV1 support articles.
  • Please consult this list of all known issues + issues fixed in eMotion LV1 latest version.
  • VPN software can alter network settings to meet its requirements.
These changes can the affect the network ports used for SoundGrid and may compromise performance of the SoundGrid network.

Windows

  • Connecting to a SoundGrid network via Thunderbolt 3 is currently not supported.

Mac

  • OS X users: For best performance of audio transport from the SoundGrid Core Audio Driver to the SoundGrid network, new Apple computers featuring Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C connectivity should use one of the following adapters:

    • Sonnet Solo 10G Thunderbolt 3-to-Ethernet Adapter
    • OWC Thunderbolt 3 10G Ethernet Adapter

Sample Rate Support

SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio driver and SoundGrid Connect support 44.1 kHz to 96 kHz

Latency

SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio driver uses a network buffer when connecting to the SoundGrid network in addition to the ASIO/Core Audio buffer. The network buffer can be set to 104–1024 samples.

A round trip through a non-SoundGrid ASIO/Core driver used with SoundGrid Connect and SoundGrid processing then back will exhibit additional latency. The total latency for the round trip will commonly be more than 6 ms. See the manual for more information.

Connections

SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio driver supports up to 128 input and 128 output channels.

All connections and configurations require the SoundGrid Studio Application.

Important Notes:

General

  • SoundGrid is a ‘private’ network: in order to have a clean network stream, the SoundGrid network should not be used to run any non-SoundGrid applications. Using non-SoundGrid protocols on the same network that carries SoundGrid audio might result in audio drops, application freezes, and other unexpected results.
  • SoundGrid configuration and patching requires SoundGrid Studio, MultiRack SoundGrid, or eMotion LV1 installation.

SoundGrid Connect Supported Drivers

ASIO/Core Audio drivers supporting multi-client operation and 44.1–96 kHz

We have tested the following devices/drivers:

  • Apogee Ensemble/Quartet (Mac only)
  • Behringer UMC 204 HD
  • Focusrite Saffire/Scarlett
  • Mackie Onyx (Mac only)
  • M-Audio M-Track/FastTrack
  • Mac built-in
  • MOTU 828 (control panel must be closed)
  • MOTU UltraLight AVB
  • PC built-in (using ASIO4ALL)
  • Presonus AudioBox
  • Prism Sound Lyra
  • RME FireFace
  • UAD Apollo (USB/FireWire)

Please note:

  • Buffer sizes above 2048 are not supported. Some buffer sizes that are not in common intervals are not supported.
  • Using multiple ASIO/Core Audio devices thru SoundGrid Connect and SoundGrid I/O devices requires external WC connection between devices
  • When using the built-in Mac driver with SoundGrid Connect for StudioRack SoundGrid processing, the Mac driver must be selected as the playback engine in your DAW. Patching to the built-in Mac driver from the SoundGrid network is currently not supported.
  • PC users – WDM drivers are supported only if your system includes at least one SoundGrid audio interface; they are not supported if you are only using a non-SoundGrid interface via SoundGrid Connect.
  • MultiRack and eMotion LV1 are currently not supported. We are working on making them compatible with SoundGrid Connect in the near future.

The network buffer can be set to 108–2048 samples.

A round trip through a non-SoundGrid ASIO/Core driver used with SoundGrid Connect and SoundGrid processing then back will exhibit additional latency. The total latency for the round trip will commonly be more than 6 ms. See the manual for more information.

Connections

  • SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio driver supports up to 128 input and 128 output channels.
  • SoundGrid Connect can bridge up to 128 input and 128 output channels (depending on the number of StudioRack voices and SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio channels being used).

All connections and configurations require the SoundGrid Studio Application.

Compatible with Avid S6L running VENUE 6.1

Important Notes:

If your console is online, Waves Central will notify you that there is a new version of Waves Central available.

However, until further notice, do NOT try to download or install the new version of Waves Central on your console. It is not ready to be used with your S6L console.

This means that if you want to install new Waves V11 software or activate Waves V11 licenses, you should wait until S6L-compatible versions of the new Waves Central and the Waves offline installer for S6L consoles are available. We will notify you when this happens, shortly.

In the meantime: To install Waves V10 software using the existing offline installer, please temporally disconnect the console from the internet. If you need to activate Waves V10 licenses, please do so on a separate computer with a USB flash drive.

  • When copy/pasting plugins within the SoundGrid Rack, if pasting a plugin to an insert slot already containing a plugin, “undo” in the SoundGrid Rack toolbar may not recover the previously inserted plugin
  • In plugins in which two parameters have a “link” control, if adjusting one of the parameters with encoders, changes in the linked value may not be reflected
  • If switching presets in Manny Marroquin Reverb with the Waves toolbar, preset loading may be slow
  • If opening SoundGrid Inventory directly from the SoundGrid Rack, there’s a chance the Inventory window will be hidden behind the SoundGrid rack window, depending on its last on-screen position. Simply click to a different tab in VENUE to reveal SoundGrid Inventory
  • Switching snapshot while loading session will cause corruption in SoundGrid Rack
  • In plugins such as GTR ToolRack, GTR Stomp and Scheps Omni Channel, switching internally-loaded plugins with snapshots will not work. Stationary internally-loaded plugin settings are supported and will load between snapshots
  • Gain reduction meters are not mapped to VENUE
  • It is recommended to temporarily disconnect all Stage Racks and IO Sharing when updating Waves component firmware
  • SoundGrid-compatible third-party plugins are not supported at this time
  • Using SoundGrid Rack for VENUE with Soundgrid Server One V2 requires a server buffer setting of 96 or higher

DiGiGrid IOS and DLS Servers have not been tested and do not support this system.
