This page will help you determine if your system specifications meet the requirements to run various versions of Waves Plugins, Waves Central, and Waves applications including eMotion LV1, SuperRack, SuperRack Performer, SoundGrid Driver, SoundGrid Rack for VENUE, SoundGrid Studio and Tracks Live.

- Currently, having a Windows user account name that includes non-English characters may prompt a Waveshell error message while scanning V13 plugins in your DAW. We are working on a fix for this issue.

SoundGrid is a ‘private’ network: in order to have a clean network stream, the SoundGrid network should not be used to run any non-SoundGrid applications. For some systems it is advisable to use a secondary computer for recording/playback. This provides optimal CPU and disk performance on the primary computer that is running eMotion LV1.
Please note: When using the SoundGrid Connect feature, the only local devices supported in eMotion LV1 v11 and up are the built-in output of macOS X Core Audio and built-in Windows drivers (with ASIO4ALL).

If the outputs of a DiGiGrid D / Q / M interface are patched to a Soundgrid Driver, audio will not pass if the Driver Network Buffer is set to 1024 samples in the Soundgrid host application. Workaround: change the driver’s network buffer to 512 or lower.
For some systems it is advisable to use a secondary computer for recording/playback. This provides optimal CPU and disk performance on the primary computer that is running eMotion LV1.

We have found a compatibility issue where our SoundGrid applications (eMotion LV1, SuperRack, SoundGrid Studio) may not pass audio after updating to macOS 11.3 on systems running an application named ‘Cisco FireAMP’ (part of an enterprise IT management tool).
If you do not have ‘Cisco FireAMP’ installed, you may update to macOS 11.3 safely, without concern. If you do have this application and experience this issue in your SoundGrid application after updating to macOS 11.3, disabling the AMP network extension feature will resolve the issue.

Important Notes:
SoundGrid is a ‘private’ network: in order to have a clean network stream, the SoundGrid network should not be used to run any non-SoundGrid applications. Using non-SoundGrid protocols on the same network that carries SoundGrid audio might result in audio drops, application freezes, and other unexpected results.
Bucket View in the CLA MixHub plugin is currently not supported in eMotion LV1.
When mapping CLA MixHub to the Channel overview window, graphic errors may show in the overview display.
Installing eMotion LV1 v10 will update all SoundGrid firmware (interfaces and servers) and drivers to v10, which is not compatible with SoundGrid v9 software. To also use MultiRack SoundGrid or SoundGrid Studio, you will need to switch between v10 and v9 SoundGrid firmware and drivers.
We highly recommend using the following qualified systems:

- SoundGrid Driver Compatibility with SuperRack V15: Installing SuperRack SoundGrid V15 automatically installs the latest SoundGrid Driver V16 on your system. Please be aware that this change may disrupt compatibility with other SoundGrid applications or drivers running on different computers within the same setup.
  
  To maintain proper functionality across your SoundGrid ecosystem, you must update the SoundGrid Driver to version 16 on all participating machines. This can be done using Waves Central, by going to Install products > All products section, search for Soundgrid v16 ASIO / Core Audio Rec/PB Driver, and install it.
- SoundGrid Driver on Intel Core Ultra CPUs: The latest SoundGrid Driver V16 is not supported for playback and recording on Intel Core Ultra processors, and may cause performance issues if used for that purpose. We are working on adding support as soon as we can.
- macOS Sequoia (15.X): An OS related networking issue may affect connectivity between the SoundGrid host computer and the SoundGrid server. If you encounter such issues, go to System Settings > Privacy and Security > Local Network, uncheck SuperRack SoundGrid / eMotion LV1, enable it again, then restart the application. In some cases, creating a new administrator account on your Mac may solve the issue.
- Starting with Mac OS Ventura, network timing & priority infrastructure introduced some changes, affecting SoundGrid driver performance. As a result, using Apple computers for recording or playback with the SoundGrid driver may exhibit intermittent audio dropouts. Apple and Waves are working in collaboration towards fixing this issue, however until resolved, we recommend using Windows computers for recording and playback with the SoundGrid driver. Still, there are many systems that record/playback with Apple computers flawlessly, so we strongly suggest to review the SoundGrid Recording/Playback Tips for Apple Computers article.
  
  Using Apple Macs to run SoundGrid host applications, such as SuperRack SoundGrid or eMotion LV1, is fully supported.

SoundGrid is a ‘private’ network: in order to have a clean network stream, the SoundGrid network should not be used to run any non-SoundGrid applications. Using non-SoundGrid protocols on the same network that carries SoundGrid audio might result in audio drops, application freezes, and other unexpected results.
Installing SuperRack v12 will update all SoundGrid firmware (interfaces and servers) and drivers to v12, which is not compatible with SoundGrid v9 software. To also use MultiRack SoundGrid or SoundGrid Studio, you will need to switch between v12 and v9 SoundGrid firmware and drivers.
SoundGrid host applications must be aligned to the same version for Device Sharing.
OS X users: When launching SuperRack, you might experience a brief flicker. This occurs when SuperRack adjusts the computer’s screen resolution and color scheme to its requirements. Upon quitting SuperRack, the screen will revert to the previous resolution and color scheme.
For best performance of audio transport from the SoundGrid Core Audio Driver to the SoundGrid network, Apple computers should use one of the following adapters:

Sonnet Solo 10GB Thunderbolt 3-to-Ethernet Adapter (Type C connector)
OWC Thunderbolt 3 10GB Ethernet Adapter (Type C connector)
Apple Thunderbolt 2 to 1GB Ethernet Adapter (MDP connector)
Recording and playing back over 32 channels using your local Apple ethernet port is not recommended and may cause random audio drops.
Windows Users: For best performance of audio transport from the SoundGrid ASIO Driver to the SoundGrid network, Windows computers featuring USB-C connectivity should use a Gigabit Ethernet adapter with an Asix AX88179A chipset. We've specifically tested the following adapter: Pluggable USB Type-C Gigabit Ethernet Adapter USBC-E1000.
DiGiCo Users: DiGiCo V1143 software is required to establish SuperRack remote control.
VPN software can alter network settings to meet its requirements. These changes can affect the network ports used for SoundGrid and may compromise performance of the SoundGrid network. We strongly advise that you remove, disable, or turn off all VPN software while working with SoundGrid.
MIDI feedback is not available in SuperRack.
Waves Plugins and applications are supported and tested on operating systems installed on the built-in system hard drive. Operating systems installed on external hard drives are not tested and may not be fully functional with our software.
We have found a compatibility issue where our SoundGrid applications (eMotion LV1, SuperRack, SoundGrid Studio) may not pass audio after updating to macOS 11.3 on systems running an application named ‘Cisco FireAMP’ (part of an enterprise IT management tool).
If you do not have ‘Cisco FireAMP’ installed, you may update to macOS 11.3 safely, without concern. If you do have this application and experience this issue in your SoundGrid application after updating to macOS 11.3, disabling the AMP network extension feature will resolve the issue.

If the outputs of a DiGiGrid D / Q / M interface are patched to a Soundgrid Driver, audio will not pass if the Driver Network Buffer is set to 1024 samples in the Soundgrid host application. Workaround: change the driver’s network buffer to 512 or lower.
For some systems it is advisable to use a secondary computer for recording/playback. This provides optimal CPU and disk performance on the primary computer that is running SuperRack.
Supported SoundGrid Servers
All SoundGrid servers are supported, except DiGiGrid DGS-XL (not sold by Waves), which is neither certified nor supported for use with SuperRack.

SoundGrid Driver Compatibility with V17:
Installing the latest SoundGrid Driver V17 on your system requires that all other computers participating in the same SoundGrid setup also have the latest V17 driver installed.

To maintain proper functionality across your SoundGrid ecosystem, you must update the SoundGrid Driver to version 17 on all participating machines. This can be done using Waves Central, by going to Install Products > All Products, searching for SoundGrid V17 ASIO / Core Audio Rec/PB Driver, and installing it.
SoundGrid Driver Compatibility with Intel Core Ultra processors:
The latest SoundGrid Driver is not supported for playback and recording on Intel Core Ultra processors, and may cause performance issues if used for that purpose. We are working on adding support as soon as we can.
Starting with Mac OS Ventura, network timing & priority infrastructure introduced some changes, affecting SoundGrid driver performance. As a result, using Apple computers for recording or playback with the SoundGrid driver may exhibit intermittent audio dropouts. Apple and Waves are working in collaboration towards fixing this issue, however until resolved, we recommend using Windows computers for recording and playback with the SoundGrid driver. Still, there are many systems that record/playback with Apple computers flawlessly, so we strongly suggest to review the SoundGrid Recording/Playback Tips for Apple Computers article.

Using Apple Silicon Macs to run SoundGrid host applications, such as SuperRack SoundGrid or eMotion LV1, is fully supported. Some Intel MacBook Pro computers use two graphic adapters, to avoid possible SoundGrid Driver Audio drops during GPU switching, we recommend to disable the Automatic graphic switching option on these computers, as detailed in this Apple support article.

Installing the latest SoundGrid Driver V15 on your system requires that all other computers participating in the same SoundGrid setup also have the latest V15 driver installed.

To maintain proper functionality across your SoundGrid ecosystem, you must update the SoundGrid Driver to version 15 on all participating machines. This can be done using Waves Central, by going to Install Products > All Products, searching for SoundGrid V15 ASIO / Core Audio Rec/PB Driver, and installing it.

When using the built-in Mac driver with SoundGrid Connect for StudioRack SoundGrid processing, the Mac driver must be selected as the playback engine in your DAW. Patching to the built-in Mac driver from the SoundGrid network is currently not supported.
PC users – WDM drivers are supported only if your system includes at least one SoundGrid audio interface; they are not supported if you are only using a non-SoundGrid interface via SoundGrid Connect.
MultiRack and eMotion LV1 are currently not supported. We are working on making them compatible with SoundGrid Connect in the near future.

SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio driver and SoundGrid Connect support 44.1 kHz to 96 kHz
Latency
SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio driver uses a network buffer when connecting to the SoundGrid network in addition to the ASIO/Core Audio buffer. The network buffer can be set to 108–2048 samples.

A round trip through a non-SoundGrid ASIO/Core driver used with SoundGrid Connect and SoundGrid processing then back will exhibit additional latency. The total latency for the round trip will commonly be more than 6 ms. See the manual for more information.
Connections
SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio driver supports up to 128 input and 128 output channels.
SoundGrid Connect can bridge up to 128 input and 128 output channels (depending on the number of StudioRack voices and SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio channels being used).
All connections and configurations require the SoundGrid Studio Application.

SoundGrid Rack for VENUE

System Requirements:
- Avid S6L running VENUE 8 and above, with 8GB RAM
- The console must be equipped with two AVB cards

General
- SoundGrid is a ‘private’ network: in order to have a clean network stream, the SoundGrid network should not be used to run any non-SoundGrid applications. Using non-SoundGrid protocols on the same network that carries SoundGrid audio might result in audio drops, application freezes, and other unexpected results.
- Running Waves on VENUE 7.0 requires your S6L to have 8GB of RAM. Older S6L control surfaces from 2019 and earlier use a now-discontinued motherboard with only 4GB of RAM. For more information please contact Avid Support.
- After installing SoundGrid Rack for VENUE and restarting the console, the SoundGrid inventory may display an ‘incompatible devices’ message. Restarting the console again will solve the issue.
- After updating the WSG HD via the SG inventory, all SoundGrid Racks for VENUE might become muted. Updating the firmware again will solve this issue.
- The ‘Voices’ Meter in the SoundGrid Inventory for VENUE will display correct values only when the inventory is in focus.
- When copy/pasting plugins within the SoundGrid Rack, if pasting a plugin to an insert slot already containing a plugin, “undo” in the SoundGrid Rack toolbar may not recover the previously inserted plugin
- In plugins in which two parameters have a “link” control, if adjusting one of the parameters with encoders, changes in the linked value may not be reflected
- If switching presets in Manny Marroquin Reverb with the Waves toolbar, preset loading may be slow

Starting with Mac OS Ventura, network timing & priority infrastructure introduced some changes, affecting SoundGrid driver performance. As a result, using Apple computers for recording or playback with the SoundGrid driver may exhibit intermittent audio dropouts. Apple and Waves are working in collaboration towards fixing this issue, however until resolved, we recommend using Windows computers for recording and playback with the SoundGrid driver. Still, there are many systems that record/playback with Apple computers flawlessly, so we strongly suggest to review the SoundGrid Recording/Playback Tips for Apple Computers article.

Using Apple Macs to run SoundGrid host applications, such as SuperRack SoundGrid or eMotion LV1, is fully supported.

We've specifically tested the following adapter: Pluggable USB Type-C Gigabit Ethernet Adapter USBC-E1000.
When running the SoundGrid driver on Windows 10 with Pro Tools 2022.5, HDX is not available. We are looking into this issue and will update this page when more information is available.
Workaround: temporarily disable ‘sgdawnode’ service when launching Pro Tools, or uninstall the SoundGrid driver.
VPN software can alter network settings to meet its requirements.
These changes can the affect the network ports used for SoundGrid and may compromise performance of the SoundGrid network.
We strongly advise that you remove, disable, or turn off all VPN software while working with SoundGrid.

We have found a compatibility issue where our SoundGrid applications (eMotion LV1, SuperRack, SoundGrid Studio) may not pass audio after updating to macOS 11.3 on systems running an application named ‘Cisco FireAMP’ (part of an enterprise IT management tool).
If you do not have ‘Cisco FireAMP’ installed, you may update to macOS 11.3 safely, without concern. If you do have this application and experience this issue in your SoundGrid application after updating to macOS 11.3, disabling the AMP network extension feature will resolve the issue.

Latency
SoundGrid Studio Application and its SoundGrid ASIO/Core Audio driver introduce different I/O latencies depending on SoundGrid Driver Network buffer settings and the WSG Processing buffer.
Supported Audio Interfaces
SoundGrid Studio is compatible with all SoundGrid audio interfaces.
If the outputs of a DiGiGrid D / Q / M interface are patched to a Soundgrid Driver, audio will not pass if the Driver Network Buffer is set to 1024 samples in the Soundgrid host application. Workaround: change the driver’s network buffer to 512 or lower.
Supported SoundGrid Servers
All SoundGrid servers are supported, except DiGiGrid DGS-XL (not sold by Waves), which is neither certified nor supported for use with SoundGrid Studio.
For best results we highly recommend to use SoundGrid Studio with the SoundGrid Extreme Server.
SoundGrid Impact Server and DiGiGrid IOS are supported by the SoundGrid Studio 16-channel configuration at sample rates of up to 48 kHz.

Third-party plugins: SoundGrid Studio v12 supports 64-bit plugins only, and therefore does not currently support any third-party plugins. 32-bit SoundGrid-compatible plugins by other manufacturers will be supported in the future, pending the manufacturers’ schedule.

SoundGrid Studio and StudioRack v11 support v10 plugins on the following operating systems only: Windows 10, macOS 10.13.6 and macOS 10.14.6.
StudioRack is not supported in SoundGrid mode in Pro Tools HDX, HD or HD Native.
SoundGrid processing requires a SoundGrid system consisting of (1) a SoundGrid server and (2) a SoundGrid audio interface or a non-SoundGrid audio interface (ASIO/Core Audio) connected to the SoundGrid network via the SoundGrid driver Mac & Windows).
SoundGrid is a ‘private’ network: in order to have a clean network stream, the SoundGrid network should not be used to run any non-SoundGrid applications. Using non-SoundGrid protocols on the same network that carries SoundGrid audio might result in audio drops, application freezes, and other unexpected results.
OS X users: For best performance of audio transport from the SoundGrid Core Audio Driver to the SoundGrid network, new Apple computers featuring Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C connectivity should use one of the following adapters:

Sonnet Solo 10G Thunderbolt 3-to-Ethernet Adapter
OWC Thunderbolt 3 10G Ethernet Adapter
Users on Mac OS 10.13 (High Sierra) and and up: After installing SoundGrid Studio application, restart your system, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and click Allow within 30 minutes of installing Waves. To show the button again if 30 minutes have passed, restart your computer again.
Windows Users: For best performance of audio transport from the SoundGrid Core Audio Driver to the SoundGrid network, Windows computers featuring USB-C connectivity should use the following qualified adapter:

Plugable USB Type-C Gigabit Ethernet Adapter USBC-E1000
VPN software can alter network settings to meet its requirements.
These changes can the affect the network ports used for SoundGrid and may compromise performance of the SoundGrid network.
We strongly advise that you remove, disable, or turn off all VPN software while working with SoundGrid.
Please note: The DiGiGrid DGS-XL server (not sold by Waves) has been tested and certified for use with SoundGrid Studio. However, we do not offer technical support for this unit.

Exceptions & Notes:
SoundGrid is a ‘private’ network: in order to have a clean network stream, the SoundGrid network should not be used to run any non-SoundGrid applications. Using non-SoundGrid protocols on the same network that carries SoundGrid audio might result in audio drops, application freezes, and other unexpected results.
Bucket View in the CLA MixHub plugin is currently not supported in the SoundGrid Studio mixer.
Using the SoundGrid Driver to record at 96kHz with an A&H M-Waves card via any Waves Host application may introduce audible artifacts to the recording.
OS X users: For best performance of audio transport from the SoundGrid Core Audio Driver to the SoundGrid network, new Apple computers featuring Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C connectivity should use one of the following adapters:

Starting with Mac OS Ventura, network timing & priority infrastructure introduced some changes, affecting SoundGrid driver performance. As a result, using Apple computers for recording or playback with the SoundGrid driver may exhibit intermittent audio dropouts. Apple and Waves are working in collaboration towards fixing this issue, however until resolved, we recommend using Windows computers for recording and playback with the SoundGrid driver. Still, there are many systems that record/playback with Apple computers flawlessly, so we strongly suggest to review the SoundGrid Recording/Playback Tips for Apple Computers article.
