Apr 19, 2023

If you are trying to use your SoundGrid server in a Waves host application but the server appears as N/A in the inventory, follow these steps:

First - Make sure that the server is powered on and connected to your SoundGrid switch or your SoundGrid Host computer.

Un-assign the server:

  • eMotion LV1, SuperRack SoundGrid and SoundGrid Studio
    1. Go to Setup (top) > System Inventory (left)
    2. In the Servers rack, click on the arrow to the right of your server and select Remove from the dropdown menu.
    3. Click OK when prompted.
  • MultiRack SoundGrid
    1. Press F2 or go to Audio > SoundGrid Inventory
    2. Under SoundGrid Servers, assign the SG Server to “-“
    3. Click the Refresh button from the top right of the window.

Reassign the Server:

  • eMotion LV1, SuperRack SoundGrid and SoundGrid Studio
In the Servers rack, click on the arrow in an empty slot and select the server.
  • MultiRack SoundGrid
Under SoundGrid Servers, assign the SG Server to “1

Please note: If after the server has been Unassigned it is no longer available in the inventory, refer to the SoundGrid Server Not Showing in Host Inventory.

  • Make sure to restart the server by pressing the front power button for a few seconds. Once the server shuts down, press on the power button again. Wait for a few seconds and check if the server is now properly assigned.
  • Check that the server is connected to the switch or the SoundGrid Host computer and verify that the activity lights are flashing on the port that the server is connected to. If there are no activity light on the switch's port or if the server’s front LED is blinking red, make sure to check your connection by replacing the cable and making sure it’s seated firmly on both ends.

Windows

  1. Press [Win key], type Network Connections and hit Enter.
  2. Right-click on the network adapter connected to the SoundGrid network and select Properties.
  3. Make sure that Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) is check-marked.
  4. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click on Properties.
  5. Select Obtain an IPv6 address automatically and click OK.
  6. Click OK again.

Mac

  1. Go to System Preferences > Network > Ethernet > Advanced.
  2. Set Configure IPv6 to Automatically.
  3. Click OK.

The server should now appear in the Inventory with a green “ON” indication.

Server still appears as N/A? Check for VPN

VPN software can alter network settings to meet its requirements.
These changes can affect the network ports used for SoundGrid and may compromise performance of the SoundGrid network.
We strongly advise that you remove, disable, or turn off all VPN software while working with SoundGrid.
