How to Use Mono to Stereo plugins in Steinberg Apps

Apr 10, 2022

Learn how to load Waves Mono to Stereo plugins in Cubase, Nuendo and Wavelab host applications from Steinberg. Due to unique internal routing architecture, loading a Mono to Stereo plugin component on a mono track in Steinberg hosts will result in the unprocessed signal being audible in the right channel, and incorrect output panning. To process mono content with a Mono to Stereo Waves plugin, load it on a Stereo track, following the instructions below.

  1. Access the channel settings on your Stereo track

  3. Open the Routing Editor:

    Open the Routing Editor
  4. It will display this:

    It will display this
  5. Click the black area below the Right input (‘R’) on top. This will disconnect the Right input resulting in one mono from the left input into the Mono to Stereo plugin, and true stereo output as expected. It should look like this:

Click the black area below the Right input (‘R’) on top
  6. Exit the Routing Editor.

Now the mono to stereo plugin will work on our Mono Audio file and pan the stereo output correctly.
