How to Find Your Plugins in Pro Tools 10

Last updated on: 9/6/2017 10:00:48 AM

The last version of Waves plugins to support DAE is v9.6. To install Waves DAE plugins, use the Waves Central v9.6 Offline Installer for Mac | Windows.

Please Note: Products released after March 29, 2017 will not be added to the v9.6 installer. Check our Release Notes for specific information.

If you are trying to load your Waves plugins in Pro Tools 10 but you cannot find them, follow these instructions in order to make the plugins available.

Verify that Your Plugin Software Is Correctly Installed

First, check whether the relevant plugin file/s are correctly installed on your computer. Go to:

Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V9
Mac: System HD > Applications > Waves > Plug-Ins V9

The relevant plugin file will be named after the plugin, in this format: [PluginName].bundle. For example, the plugin file for Reel ADT will be named Reel ADT.bundle.

If the plugins you are looking for are not in the above folder, follow these steps:
  1. Quit Pro Tools.
  2. Download the Waves Central v9.6 Offline Installer for Mac | Windows.
  3. Unzip the folder to your desktop.
  4. Launch Waves Central:
Windows: via the desktop shortcut or Start Menu > All Programs > Waves
    Mac: Applications > Waves Central
  5. Click on Install Products.
  6. In the left panel, click on Select Offline Installer.
  7. When prompted, highlight the Waves folder on your desktop and click Select folder/Open.
  8. In the middle panel, select the products you wish to install.
  9. Click on Install.
  10. Launch Pro Tools with a supported sample rate and see if your plugins are now available.

Verify that Your Licenses Are Activated

  1. Launch Waves Central:
Windows: via the desktop shortcut or Start Menu > All Programs > Waves
    Mac: Applications > Waves Central
  2. Go to Licenses > Local Licenses.
  3. In the left column, select your computer/USB device.
  4. Activated licenses will appear in the middle column.

If your licenses are not activated, activate your licenses.

Rescan for Plugins

If the plugin software is correctly installed and your licenses are activated to your computer or to a connected USB device, perform a rescan:

  1. Launch Pro Tools while holding down the [Shift] Key. Keep it held down until the Waves Preferences window pops up.
  2. Check-mark Rescan all plugins; Don’t ask me again, and click OK.
    • If prompted to Locate the Waves Plugins Folder, direct to:
      Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V9
      Mac: Macintosh HD > Applications > Waves > Plug-Ins V9
  3. Create a new project with a supported sample rate, add a track and load Waves plugins.

In case the above didn’t work, do the following:

Windows:

  1. Quit Pro Tools.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\DigiDesign\DAE\DAE prefs, locate the file Installed plug-ins and drag it to your desktop.
  3. Launch Pro Tools, create a new session with a supported sample rate, add a track and load your Waves plugins. If prompted to Locate the Waves plugins folder, direct to C:\Program Files (x86)\Waves\Plug-Ins V9.
  4. If everything then works properly, you can delete Installed plug-ins from your desktop.

Mac:

  1. Quit Pro Tools.
  2. In Finder, click on the Go menu, hold down the [Alt/Option] key and click on Library.
  3. Go to Preferences > DAE Prefs locate the file installed plug-ins and drag it to your desktop.
  4. Launch Pro Tools, create a fresh session with a supported sample rate, add a track and see if the issue persists. If prompted to Locate the Waves plugins folder, direct to Sys HD > Applications > Waves > Plug-Ins V9.
  5. If everything then works properly, you can delete Installed plug-ins from your desktop.
