How to Control Waves Plugins with MIDI in Ableton Live

Learn how to control Waves Plugins using MIDI in Ableton Live.

  1. Create a new audio track.

  2. Load a Waves plugin from your plugin list and open it on the audio track.

  3. Create a new MIDI track and assign its output to the audio track. If needed, select your Waves plugin in the bottom box.

  4. Open the Waves plugin, right-click on the parameter you wish to control and click Learn.

  5. Send MIDI control information to the plugin in one of these 2 ways:
    1. Use a MIDI controller – Arm the MIDI track for recording, then move the knob/fader on your controller.
    2. Program it into the MIDI track – program MIDI CC information into a clip on your MIDI track and hit Play.
  6. Now, the parameter you selected on the plugin is controlled by MIDI Control information.
