Can’t Find Waves ReWire Plugin in Host Application

Jul 24, 2025

If you are using Waves Tune in a host application that requires the Waves ReWire plugin (REAPER or Pro Tools) and you can’t find it, please follow these steps.

Important Notes:

  • Since V16, ReWire is no longer supported, due to Propellered deprecating the feature. Waves Tune & Tune LT still work in any supported host, but without ReWire, you won’t be able to control the host’s timeline from inside Waves Tune’s interface.
  • If you wish to try to use ReWire with Waves Tune, install Waves Tune as a V15 plugin. Please note that we cannot guarantee ReWire will work with Waves Tune V16.
  • The ReWire software protocol does not work on Apple Silicon processors.
  • Without ReWire, Waves Tune (V15 or lower) may display a message that "ReWire link has not been established" and will not sync to the host transport and timeline. Learn how to load ReWire in your host application.

Step #1 - Rescan for plugins

  • How to Find Your Plugins in REAPER
      1. Quit Pro Tools.
      2. Drag the following folder to your desktop:
        • Windows: C:\Users\Public\Pro Tools\AAXPlugInCache
        • Mac: Macintosh HD > Users > Shared > Pro Tools > AAXPlugInCache
      3. Launch Pro Tools and create a new project with a supported sample rate, add a mono AUX track and check if Waves ReWire now shows under the Instruments menu.
      4. If everything then works properly, you can delete AAXPlugInCache folder from your desktop.

If the plugin is still missing, proceed to step #2 below.

Step #2 - Repair

  1. Launch the Waves Central application:
Windows: via the desktop shortcut or Start Menu > All Programs > Waves Central.
    Mac: Applications > Waves Central.
  2. Log into Waves Central.
  3. Click the Setting page.
  4. Under Maintenance > Repair, click Repair and follow the on-screen instructions.

If the plugin is still missing, proceed to step #3 below.

Step #3 - Reinstall Waves Tune via Waves Central

Refer to the steps described in the Installing My Products and Demos article.
