Latency	SuperRack Performer is an ASIO / Core Audio host and uses your audio interface to stream audio in and out of the application. As such, latency depends on your ASIO/Core Audio buffer settings. For example, at 48kHz, a setting of 256 samples buffer size would mean 256 samples on the input path + 256 samples on the output path, totaling 512 samples, which at 48kHz means latency of ~5.3ms*. Some of the plugins introduce their own processing latency, independent of where they run. For more info on plugin latency, click here.	SuperRack SoundGrid is a SoundGrid host, using a server to process the audio, and dedicated SoundGrid interface to stream audio in and out. Latency, in this case, is determined by the server’s processing buffer, which is usually less than 1ms, and the I/O’s own latency, which is usually a few samples. In general, SoundGrid’s in-to-out latency is =<1ms. Some of the plugins introduce their own processing latency, independent of where they run. For more info on plugin latency, click here.
Processing	SuperRack Performer is similar to any DAW, doing its processing on your computer’s CPU. The faster your computer is, the more (and heavier) plugins you can run at the same time. Note that if you set your latency to a higher value, you can usually get more CPU for processing. You don’t want to overdo it on your CPU though, as running at high CPU might introduce sluggishness in your computer’s response.	SuperRack SoundGrid uses SoundGrid DSP Servers to do its processing. A server can usually run dozens if not hundreds of plugins at the same time. You can also stack up to 4 servers to get more processing and add servers for redundancy. For example, the One-C SoundGrid Server, which is a medium-range server, can run 176 instances of C6, or 512 instances of the SSL E-Channel at less than 1ms latency.
Required gear	You need your computer for processing. You’ll also need a USB cable if your console supports USB streaming in and out, or an ASIO/Core Audio interface to connect your computer or laptop to the console.	SuperRack SoundGrid requires a SoundGrid setup to do its thing. This setup usually comprises of: Your computer/laptop, to run the application. A SoundGrid DSP Server to do the processing. Connectivity	To connect to your console, you’ll need either a USB cable if your console supports USB in/out streaming, or an ASIO/Core Audio audio interface that can connect to your console. For example, if your console supports MADI in and out, an RME MADiface or similar interface could do the job. If your console has analog ins and outs, then any analog interface would be the thing to use.	A SoundGrid system connects to your console via a SoundGrid interface that works with your console. Remote Control	Various functions in SuperRack Performer and its plugins can be controlled by MIDI. Snapshot recall can also be done using mRecall, an iOS/Android application. If your setup includes a DiGiCo console then SuperRack can be directly controlled from the console, and integrated into the console’s workflow.

*For FOH processing, you can usually get away with up to ~10ms of latency without anyone in the audience noticing. For monitoring, try not to exceed 5ms.
