Cloud MX Audio Mixer – Key Features in Depth
NDI® is a registered trademark of Vizrt Group.
Cloud MX is currently qualified to run on AWS.
For more information on running Cloud MX using other cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, contact a Waves Specialist.
The Cloud MX Audio Mixer runs on an AWS EC2 Windows instance. We recommend using a g4dn.4xlarge (Intel) instance as a starting point. It may be necessary to scale up to a larger instance if you are inserting many processing-intensive plugins. We also recommend attaching an EBS Volume to the instance to store licenses.
Yes. The Cloud MX Audio Mixer is NDI®-compatible, which means it can be discovered and routed to any number of instances in the cloud. When setting up, just make sure to allow access to all the instances that need to receive/send the NDI® streams between one another.
Cloud MX supports the following setups:
*To use 2 FIT controllers together, specific settings are required. For assistance with setting up 2 FIT controllers with Cloud MX, contact our customer support team.
Yes. The Waves ASIO Control Panel for NDI® includes an option to “enable local audio.” This option assigns the last two output patches of Cloud MX (channels 63-64) to the EC2 Windows audio; then, using AWS NICE DCV as the remote client you can monitor the outputs (such as main LR mix, cue bus, etc.) on the remote computer.
We recommend that licenses not be activated directly on the instance. Instead, we recommend attaching an EBS Volume to the instance to store licenses. By storing the license on the EBS Volume, you can terminate the EC2 instance without losing the licenses. By using the EBS Volume, a new instance with the Cloud MX software can spin up with the EBS Volume attached, and the licenses will be active on the new instance. Using this method saves the EC2 usage cost whenever processing is not required.
