The Aphex Vintage Aural Exciter is a secret weapon on acoustic instruments. I will buss all my acoustic guitars, mando, banjo, dobro, violin, etc. through an aux, hit about 3 dB on a CLA-3A Compressor/Limiter, then send it all into the Aphex on the Mix 1 setting, with the input around -1. It makes everything shimmer without sounding brittle or harsh.
