When world-class engineer Jean-Marie Horvat steps up to the board to mix down artists like Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, or soundtracks like Rush Hour, he often finds himself reaching for his Waves bundles.
I particularly love the Waves plugins. I used the C4 on Brian McKnight very early on, and it sounded amazing - I was sold. The track we were working on hadn’t been miked well, and the C4 took out some midrange artifacts without compromising the sound at all. I wanted to get that sexy, throaty sound from Brian, and the C4 lifted the top end tremendously. I’m a mixer; my job is to make tracks that are “crackulating” before they reach the mastering process. There are things that can be done with software that are fantastic. For example, I recently had a track where we had some air conditioning noise that we couldn’t EQ out. I went to the Waves Mastering Tools and sliced it out quickly. |
